Mr. Graham Wade Worriax, Sr., 82, of 7770 Deep Branch Road, Pembroke, was born on September 10, 1926 to the late Mr. Elwood Jones and Mrs. Pearl Jones. He departed this life Thursday, January 29, 2009 at Southeastern Hospice House in Lumberton, North Carolina. Mr. Worriax was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Hattie Worriax, granddaughters: Ms. Joy Green and Ms. Koti Worriax, three brothers: Mr. Lee Willie Worriax, Mr. Thomas Worriax, Mr. Pratt Harris; and one sister, Ms. Peggy Collins.
Mr. Worriax was a member of Island Grove Baptist Church. He enjoyed teaching, preaching, carpentry, fishing, and assisting others in need.
The funeral will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Sunday, February 1, 2009, at Island Grove Baptist Church with the Revs: Dr. Dalton Brooks and Larry Locklear officiating. Burial will follow in the Island Grove Church Cemetery.
Mr. Worriax’s memories are cherished by his children: Mrs. Diane Chavis, Mr. James Worriax, Mrs. Julia Johnson, Mrs. JoAnn Harris, Ms. Geraldine Green, Mr. Graham Worriax, Jr. all of Pembroke, one sister Mrs. Mary Ruth Jacobs of Red Springs, twelve grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends including Ms. Normie and Ms. Nicole.
The family will receive friends Saturday, January 31, 2009, from 7-9 p.m. at Locklear & Son Funeral Home.
