Mrs. Marie Winship, 89, of Pembroke was born December 23, 1918 to the late Lee and Kattie Jacobs Locklear and died, Thursday, March 20, 2008, at Sara’s Family Care Home of Maxton. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Winship was preceded in death by her husband: Marion Winship of Gowanda, NY and two sisters: Blumer Sampson and Nannie Lee Jacobs.
The funeral will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Sunday, March 23, 2008, at Locklear & Son Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Oxendine and Bro. David Deese officiating. Burial will follow in the Sandcutt Cemetery.
Mrs. Winship leaves to cherish her memories her four nieces: Mrs. Lillian Lloyd, Mrs. Mable C. Maynor, Mrs. Kate Locklear and Ms. Elaine Faye Fedor all of Pembroke; two nephews: Mr. Julius “Buddy” Jacobs and Mr. James “Jimmy” Jacobs and a host of relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends Saturday, March 22, 2008, from 7-9 p.m. at Locklear & Son Funeral Home.
