Ms. Mary Lee Sutherland, 97, of 11321 Purcell Road, was born on November 11, 1911 in Robeson County and departed this life on Tuesday, July 21, 2009, at the Edward Morgan Center in Laurinburg. She was the loving daughter of the late Mr. Paisley & Mrs. Mary Francis Locklear. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Mr. John Sutherland, a retiree of the Army. She was a devoted wife and mother and she attended church at Saint Luke United Methodist Church of Laurinburg.
The funeral will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Thursday, July 23, 2009, at Locklear & Son Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Kelvin Locklear officiating. Burial will follow in the Oxendine Cemetery.
Mrs. Sutherland leaves behind to cherish her memories, one son Mr. Chester Sutherland of Wagram, three grandchildren, Mrs. Susan Carol Kee and Mr. Chester Sutherland Jr. both of Laurinburg and Ms. April Michelle Sutherland of Raleigh and two great-grandchildren, Nicholas James Kee and Jessica Nicole Kee of Laurinburg, NC, & a special niece, Ms. Tiffany Locklear and host of family & friends.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, July 22, 2009, at Locklear & Son Funeral Home.
