Mr. Murphy H. Seals, 73, of 2927 Red Hill Rd., Maxton went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, May 11, 2009 at Scotland Memorial Hospital. He is preceded in death by his parents Mr. Frank Barton and Mrs. Mary Jane Seals; a son: Mr. Keith L. Seals; a sister Mrs. Stella Butler; and a brother: Mr. James A. Seals.
Mr. Seals never met a stranger and always greeted people with a smile and an encouraging word. He was a man of God, strong in his faith and unwavering in his belief and trust in the Lord. He was a dedicated husband, a loving father, and an encouraging grandfather. His unselfish love for his family is evidenced by his life, his commitment to each of them, and the legacy he leaves behind.
The funeral will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Thursday, May 14, 2009, at Mt. Olive Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Revs: Steve Dixon, Kip Woods and James W. Hunt officiating. Burial will follow in the Seals Family Cemetery.
Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife: Mrs. Serena Mae Seals of the home; six sons: Mr. Freddie Locklear, Mr. Robert Othie Seals both of Maxton, Mr. Glenn Hammonds of Pembroke, Mr. James Murphy Seals of Monroe, Mr. Timothy Seals of Laurinburg and Mr. Kevin L. Seals of the home; three daughters: Mrs. Brenda Locklear of Laurinburg, Mrs. Linda Hunt of Lumberton and Mrs. Marilyn Allen of Maxton; a brother: Mr. Larry Seals; twenty grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 13, 2009, from 7-9 p.m. at Locklear & Son Funeral Home.
