Obituaries

Mr. Luther E. Sanderson Pembroke        Mr. Luther E. Sanderson, 85, passed away on Tuesday, June 9, 2009.  Mr. Luther was born to the late Mr. Martin L. Sanderson and Mrs. Addie Lee Sanderson on October 21, 1923.  He served in World War II and received and Honorable Discharge from the United States Army.      The funeral will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Saturday, June 13, 2009 at Union Chapel Community Baptist Church with the Rev:  Jimmy Strickland, Chaplin Robert Nolley, and Chaplin Archie Oxendine.  Burial will follow in the Oxendine Cemetery.             “Daddy” Luther Sanderson leaves behind to honor his memory three sons:  Mr. Luther D. Sanderson of Richlands, NC, Mr. “Duck” Floyd Glenn Sanderson of Lumberton, and Mr. Woodrow Harris of Pembroke; six daughters Mrs. Gloria J. McLamb of Prineville, OR, Mrs. Magdalene S. Jones of Garner, NC, Mrs. Linda K. Sanderson of Angier, NC, and Mrs. Christie Jacobs of Lewisville, NC along with their spouses; forty grandchildren, seventy great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.  He remains in our hearts and his memory will live on forever and always.             On June 9, 2009, Mr. Luther joined former wife and mother of step children Mrs. Virginia L. Sanderson and stepdaughter Ms. Dina H. Turley.  He will also join the mother of his children Mrs. Roberta L. Sanderson and sons:  Mr. Bobby Sanderson, Mr. Larry G. Sanderson and Mr. Carey D. Sanderson.          The family will receive friends Friday, June 12, 2009 from 7-9 p.m. at Locklear & Son Funeral Home.
