Obituaries

Mrs. Lastelle Oxendine                                                Rowland      Mrs. Lastelle Oxendine, 86, of 2050 Cabinet Shop Road, was born June 12, 1924 and died Thursday, July 15, 2010 at her home.  She was the daughter of the late Mr. John Gus & Mrs. Claricy Locklear Deese.      The funeral will be conducted Sunday, July 18, 2010, at 3:00 p.m. at Bear Swamp Baptist Church with the Revs: Timmie Chavis and Dr. Michael Cummings officiating.  Burial will follow in the Bear Swamp Church Cemtery.      Surviving are her husband: Mr. Henry W. Oxendine of the home; a son: Mr. Steve Oxendine; a daughter: Mrs. Charlotte Pearl; three brothers: Mr. John G. Deese, Mr. Donald R. Deese and Mr. William Deese; three sisters: Ms. Rosie J. White, Ms. Louise Oxendine and Ms. Frances Lowery; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.      The family will receive friends Saturday, July 17, 2010 from 7-9 p.m. at Locklear & Son Funeral Home.
