Mrs. Annie Pearl McGirt Oxendine

                                          Pembroke

Mrs. Annie Pearl McGirt Oxendine, 83, of 1268 Faith Road, was born into this life on May 8, 1926 to the late Mr. Henry McGirt and Mrs. Mary Catherine Lowry McGirt.  She married her first true love Mr. George Pate Oxendine, Sr.  She dedicated her life to God’s service when she was a child at the tender age of 10 years old.  Her walk with God took her down many winding roads and those roads were filled with disappointment and great joy.  On Sunday, March 14, 2010, her earthly walk with God ended and it began anew in Heaven.

Mrs. Annie Pearl was preceded in death by her parents: Mr. Henry & Mrs. Mary Catherine McGirt; four brothers: Mr. Marvin McGirt, Mr. James E. McGirt, Mr. Robert McGirt and Mr. Sanford “Sam” McGirt; four sisters: Ms. Callie Locklear, Ms. Nanny Mae McGirt, Ms. Martha Lee Jones and Ms. Theresa Locklear.

Mrs. Oxendine enjoyed life to the fullest.  She had a passion for her flowers and her flower garden.  Her home was adorned with flowers.  When her children were younger they had to work many long hours keeping her flower garden up to par.  As with her flowers she had a way with making new friends and adding them to her bouquet of friends.  To know Mrs. Annie Pearl was to know one who had a love for God and her Savior Jesus Christ.  She was known for her kindness to her fellow man and she lent a helping hand when she was able.  She is loved by all who met her.

The funeral will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 17, 2010, at Greenpine Freewill Baptist Church with the Revs: Clifford Locklear, Bobby Dean Locklear and Jimmy Strickland officiating.  Burial will follow in the Greenpine Church Cemetery.

Left to cherish her memories are her husband of 63 years: Mr. George Pate Oxendine, Sr. of the home; five sons: Mr. Larry E. Oxendine and a special friend: Ms. Jan Oxendine, Mr. Phillip Oxendine, Rev. Anthony Oxendine and his wife: Mrs. Beulah, Mr. Randy Oxendine and Mr. George Pate Oxendine, Jr. and his wife: Mrs. Linda Oxendine all of Pembroke; a daughter: Mrs. Joanne O. Ramey and her husband: Mr. Dan Ramey of Knoxville, TN; a sister: Ms. Mary Hazel McGirt of Pembroke; eighteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren and ten great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 16, 2010, from 7-9 p.m. at Locklear & Son Funeral Home.
