Mrs. Alaine H. Oxendine, 85, of 7110 Elrod Road, was born April 20, 1926 to the late Mr. Allen A. Hunt and Mrs. Betty Elizabeth Brooks, and departed this life on Saturday, November 26, 2011 at Southeastern Regional Medical Center surrounded by family and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband of 40 years: Mr. Daniel Wesley Oxendine; one daughter: Ms. Dorothy “Dot” Carter; six sisters: Ms. Mary Margaret Hunt, Ms. Velma D. Locklear, Ms. Flora B. Oxendine, Ms. Mable Hunt, Ms. Lorraine Hunt, and Ms. Josephine Hunt; six brothers: Mr. William Hunt, Mr. Allen C. Hunt, Mr. George Hunt, Mr. Stanten Hunt, Mr. Wade B. Hunt, and Mr. Howard Hunt.
The funeral will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at Willard’s Chapel with the Revs: Lockie “Bill” Carter, Jimmy Strickland, and Stevie Jacobs officiating. Burial will follow in the Hunt Family Cemetery.
Mrs. Oxendine is survived by one daughter: Mrs. Debra O. Strickland (Harry Dean) of the home; one son: Mr. Darwin Oxendine of the home; four grandsons: Mr. Wesley Oxendine, Mr. Stephen Strickland (Melissa), Mr. Lannes D. Carter Jr., and Mr. Michael Carter all of Rowland; one great grandson: Mr. Austin Strickland of Pembroke; three sisters: Ms. Eula Hunt and Ms. Katherine Walker of Rowland, and Ms. Irene Locklear of Pembroke; and a host of relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, November 29, 2011, at Locklear & Son Funeral Home. |
