Mrs. Herlin J. Nabarette, 70, of 272 Elrod Rd., Maxton, was born November 6, 1937 and departed this life Wednesday, January 2, 2008 in the Hospice of Scotland County. She is preceded in death by her husbands: Mr. Marvin G. Chavis and Mr. Dale Nabarette; a daughter: Ms. Vicky Lynn Chavis; and a granddaughter: Ms. Tiffany Chavis.
She will be remembered by her family for her dedication to the well being of her home and a special love for her family, especially her grandchildren. Mrs. Nabarette was an avid gardener and had a special love for puzzles. Her sons said “We will never forget the wonderful meals she would often prepare.”
The funeral will be conducted 3 p.m., Sunday, January 6, 2008, at Locklear & Son Funeral Home with the Revs: Perry Roberts & James B. Harris officiating. Burial will follow in the Lumbee Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Nabarrette leaves to cherish her memory her sons: Mr. Jimmy Chavis and wife Penny of Maxton and Mr. Shawn Chavis of Waterford, MI; a brother: Mr. Tommy Hatcher of Pembroke; three close and special sisters: Mrs. Merdis Wilkins of Pembroke, Mrs. Girtha Locklear of Greensboro, and Mrs. Verlie Bowman of Cooksville, TN; two step-sisters: Mrs. Doris Arnold of Pembroke and Mrs. Eloise Hunt of St. Claire Shores, MI; a dear and special friend: Mr. Guy Groce of Maxton; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends Saturday, January 5, 2008, from 7-9 p.m. at Locklear & Son Funeral Home.
