Mrs. Martha Maynor, 87, of 153 Charlotte Road was born April 29, 1922 to the late Mr. Sim & Mrs. Ellen Maynor. She departed this life on Friday, May 8, 2009 at her home. She was also preceded in death by: four brothers: Mr. Lawrence “Koolie” Maynor, Mr. Charlie Maynor, Mr. Marvin Maynor and Mr. Carson Maynor and a sister: Ms. Ruby “Curtie” Oxendine.
Mrs. Maynor was a faithful member of New Philadelphus United Methodist Church. She was a devoted mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, neighbor and friend, who was loved by all who knew her. She will be greatly missed.
The funeral will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 11, 2009, at New Philadelphus United Methodist Church with the Revs: George Locklear and Tony Lee officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Anna Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Maynor leaves to cherish her memories are her husband of 71 years: Mr. Make Maynor, who she married on January 16, 1938; three sons: Mr. Carl Maynor and his wife: Mrs. Barbara Maynor of Virginia, Mr. Frankie Maynor and Mr. Harvey Maynor both of Red Springs; a daughter: Mrs. Martha Ann Locklear and her husband: Mr. Sonny Locklear of Red Springs; three sisters: Ms. Lester Locklear of Red Springs, Ms. Mary Locklear and Ms. Isabelle “Pet” Dial both of Pembroke; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends Sunday, April 10, 2009, from 7-9 p.m. at Locklear & Son Funeral Home.
