Dolvin was born Monday, May 16, 1927 in Robeson County, NC, the son of the late Claude and Sarah Eliza Hunt Lowry.  He died the afternoon of Wednesday, December 12, 2007.


The funeral will be conducted Saturday, December 15, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Locklear & Son Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs:  Bill James Locklear and Robert L. Mangum officiating.  Burial will follow in the Lowry Field Family Cemetery.


Dolvin dedicated his life to Christ at age 23, July 4th weekend, 1949 and was one of the two last surviving charter members of Green Pines Freewill Baptist Church.  In later years he was a resident of Stewart’s TLC Home in Lumberton, NC, where Mrs. Treva Stewart made it possible for him to maintain regular attendance and actively participate in services at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church.


At the time of his death, Dolvin was a resident of Harrington’s Family Care on Canal Road in Pembroke.


The family wishes to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to the management and health care providers of both these facilities for their loving care during his stay with them.  Special thanks go to Mrs. Treva Stewart for faithfully transporting our brother to church services.


Dolvin was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Inez Lowry Dial, Aver Lowry, Sarah Elizabeth Lowry Woodliff, and brother Robert Adolph Lowry.  Dolvin is survived by sisters Jacqueline Lowry Glass of Harrington’s Family Care in Pembroke, Altha Lowry Whitehead of Trinity, NC, Jo Ellen Lowry Worrell of Pembroke, NC, Elaine Lowry Strickler of Mt. Holly, NC and Eleanor Lowry Otten of Charlotte, NC and brothers Claude Lowry, Jr. of Columbia, SC, Alvin Melton Lowry of Festus, MO, Harry Richard Lowry of Winston-Salem, NC, Wayne L. Lowry and William Alfred Lowry of Pembroke, NC.


The family will receive friends Friday, December 14, 2007, from 7-9 p.m. at Locklear & Son Funeral Home.
