Mr. Wilmer Lee Locklear, 83, of 6220 Hwy 72 W. Pembroke, was born October 24, 1923 and departed this life Sunday, June 10, 2007 at Southeastern Regional Medical Center. He was a retired employee of the Public Schools of Robeson County.
Mr. Locklear was preceded in death by his parents: Mr. Boss and Mrs. Dora Locklear; by his wives; the mother of his children: Mrs. Grace Eva Locklear, Mrs. Betty Faye Locklear, and Mrs. Gertrude Locklear; a son: Mr. Wilmer Lee Locklear Jr.; two brothers: Mr. Willie Mac Locklear and Mr. George Albert Locklear.
The funeral will be conducted 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, 2007, at Mt. Airy Baptist Church with the Revs: Steve Strickland, Donnie West and Larry Holmes officiating. Burial will follow in the Locklear Family Cemetery.
Mr. Locklear is survived five daughters: Ms. Molly A. Oxendine of Red Springs, Ms. Carbell Locklear of Pembroke, Ms. Lucy Lowery of Lumberton, Ms. Grace Sadler of Kernersville and Ms. Mary Ann Ransom of Wagram; five sons: Mr. Pete Lindsey Locklear, Mr. John Reed Locklear both of Pembroke, Mr. Leslie William Locklear, Mr. Amon Locklear both of Winston-Salem, and Mr. Arlee Locklear of Kernersville; twenty-four grandchildren; fourty-seven great-grandchildren; eleven great-great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 12, 2007, from 7-9 p.m. at Locklear & Son Funeral Home
