Mr. Willie Sanford “Sam” Locklear 

Pembroke

          Mr. Willie Sanford Locklear, 82, of 9005 Deep Branch Road, Pembroke, was born May 12, 1925 and departed this life Monday, July 16, 2007 at Golden Living Center in Lumberton.  Mr. Locklear, better known as “logging Sam,” retired from his logging career at the end of 1988. He was well known and loved by many. He was preceded in death by his wife: Mrs. Pauline Locklear.

          The funeral will be conducted Thursday, July 19, 2007 at Mount Olive Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Revs: Lamarr Jackson, Bill James Locklear and Dr. Kenneth Locklear officiating. Burial will follow in the family cemetery at his home.

          Survived by a son: Mr. Jimmie L. Locklear of Pembroke; a sister: Mrs. Mary D. Edge of Haines City, Florida; six half sisters:  Mrs. Alice Thomas, Mrs. Janette Locklear, Mrs. Jane Deese, Mrs. Priscilla Locklear, Mrs. Angeline Locklear all of Lumberton, Mrs. Florence Locklear of Pembroke; two half brothers:  Mr. Graddie Locklear of Lumberton, and Mr. Dizzie Dean Locklear of Rowland; four grandchildren:  Marcus L. Locklear, Misty L. Locklear, Keenya L. Locklear, and Kerri E. Locklear; two great-grandchildren: Ashley Locklear, and Aaron Locklear; one great-great-grandchild: Ashton P. Hunt, all of Pembroke and a host of relatives and friends.

          The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 18, 2007, from 7-9 p.m. at Locklear & Son funeral Home.
