Mr. Prentis Locklear

Pembroke

 

Mr. Prentis Locklear, 79 of 170 Locklear Rd., was born January 5, 1930 and departed this life Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at Southeastern Regional Medical Center.  He was preceded in death by his parents:  Mr. Gus and Mrs. Josephine Cummings Locklear; two daughters:  Ms. Vanessa Locklear and Ms. Jennifer Locklear; three brothers:  Mr. Eberts Locklear, Mr. Edsel Locklear, and Mr. Gus Locklear, Jr.

            Mr. Locklear was a farmer and factory worker for many years after spending years in the US Coast Guard.  Mr. Locklear was a committed member of Sandy Plains United Methodist Church all his life.  He served in a number of capacities in the church.  “He loved his church.”

            The funeral will conducted 2 p.m. Friday, November 13, 2009 at Sandy Plain United Methodist Church with the Revs:  Mattheue Locklear and Robert Mangum officiating.  Burial will follow in the Locklear Family Cemetery.

            Mr. Locklear is survived by his wife of 55 years:  Mrs. Josephine M. Locklear of the home; a son:  Mr. Ronald Locklear of Pembroke; three brothers:  Mr. Eddie M. Locklear, Mr. Lockwood Locklear, Mr. Gary Locklear all of Pembroke; four sisters:  Mrs. Bertha Locklear, Mrs. Frances Reagon, Mrs. Patsy Locklear, and Ms. Sara Locklear all of Pembroke; three grandchildren:  Mrs. Cathy Jo Beasley, Mr. Heath Locklear, and Mr. Chad Locklear; six great grandchildren:  Michael Beasley, Ronald Beasley, Dreama Bealey, Cheyene Locklear, Shania Locklear, and Emily Locklear and a host of relatives and friends.  Mr. Locklear was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him.

            The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, November 12, 2009, at Locklear & Son Funeral Home.
