Mr. Mancil Locklear, Jr., 70, of 520 McQueen Road, was born October 31, 1939 and died, Sunday, February 7, 2010, at Southeastern Regional Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his parents: Mancil & Mattie Belle Locklear and a sister: Myrtle C. Locklear.
Mr. Locklear married Gerland Bryant on April 12, 1963. He was a construction worker and an avid fisherman; he loved spending time in his garden and was generous with its yields. He was a sincere and loving husband, father, brother, uncle and friend and one of the proudest grandfathers there was.
The funeral will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 11, 2010, at West Saddletree Baptist Church with the Revs: Curt Oxendine and Willie Hunt officiating. Burial will follow in the Maynor Family Cemetery.
Surviving are his wife: Gerland B. Locklear of the home; two sons: Chris A. Locklear and Ronnie Locklear; a daughter: Tammy D. Thompson all of Shannon; two brothers: Billy Ray Locklear of Jacksonville, NC and Daniel Z. Locklear of Lumber Bridge, NC; a sister: Reomia L. Unold of Summerfield, FL; six grandchildren: Cody Locklear, Kayla Hunt, Mason Locklear, Ryan Storm Locklear, Jordan Lanier and Shannon Rayne Thompson and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Without him we will all have an empty space in our hearts, but we will treasure many joyous, loving and colorful memories that will forever endure. Little Chief you will be missed.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, February 10, 2010, from 7-9 p.m. at Locklear and Son Funeral Home.
