Obituaries

Ms. Lona Locklear                                        Lumberton      Ms. Lona Locklear, 75, of 1150 Pine Run Road, was born October 5, 1934 and died Friday, August 20, 2010 at Woodhaven Nursing Home.  She was a member of Burnt Swamp Baptist Church.  She was preceded in death by her companion: Mr. Lacy Chavis; her parents: Mr. Foncie & Mrs. Sudie Locklear; two sisters: Ms. Regina Hunt and Ms. Quessie Maynor; three brothers: Mr. Hobart “Sonnyboy” Maynor, Mr. Jordan Maynor, Mr. Delton “Bully” Locklear; a son: Mr. Jeffery “Fuzz” Locklear and an infant daughter.      The funeral will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 24, 2010, at Burnt Swamp Baptist Church with the Revs: Keith Long and Doug Campbell officiating.  Burial will follow in the Burnt Swamp Church Cemetery.      Ms. Locklear is survived by two daughters: Mrs. Shelia Smith and her husband: Mr. Chris and Mrs. Renee Levinson and her husband: Mr. Michael; two sons: Mr. Daryl Chavis and his wife: Mrs. Gloria and Mr. Brian Chavis and his wife: Mrs. Michelle all of Lumberton; (the daughter of Ms. Quessie Maynor) Mrs. Paula Oxendine and her husband: Mr. Gerald of Pembroke; two sisters: Mrs. Lyne Paul of Pembroke and Mrs. Retha Bryant of Kinston; six grandchildren: Mr. Jason Cardwell, US Navy, Ms. Brittany Levinson, Ms. Ashlee Chavis, Mr. Michael Levinson, Jr., Ms. Jessica Chavis and Mr. Bryon “Stoney” Chavis all of Lumberton.      The family will receive friends Monday, August 23, 2010, from 7-9 p.m. at Locklear & Son Funeral Home.
