PEMBROKE
Mr. Johnson Locklear, 80, of 2886 Union Chapel Rd. was born October 2, 1927 and died Friday, February 22, 2008 at Duke University Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his wife: Adelaide Locklear; his parents: Frank Locklear and Ethel McIntyre Locklear; two brothers: Cecil Locklear and Robert Locklear; a sister: Eunice Moore and two grandchildren: Tanya Locklear and John Thomas.
Mr. Locklear left Hoke County and moved to Michigan at a young age. There he worked at Chrysler for over 25 years, before retiring in 1975. He and his wife returned to North Carolina in 1986.
The funeral will be conducted 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 27, 2008, at White Hill Freewill Baptist Church with the Revs: Steve Strickland and Fred Locklear officiating. Burial will follow in the Lumbee Memorial Gardens.
Surviving are two sons: Richard Locklear and wife: Sandra of Las Vegas, NV and Phillip Chavis and wife: Bethyina of Red Springs; four daughters: Carol Locklear and husband: Eugene of Maxton, Valeria Locklear of Macomb, MI, Flora Ford and husband: David of Las Vegas, NV, and Tawana Urban of Lumberton; two special daughters: Marie Scott and Kathy Clark; and six sisters: Nola Hodgers, Christine Chapman, Marie Jones all of Fayetteville, Bonnie Locklear of Shannon, Linda Scott of Maxton and Betty Pagan of Raeford; Thirteen grandchildren and twenty-seven great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, February 26, 2008, from 7-9 p.m. at Locklear & Son Funeral Home.
