Obituaries


 

Mrs. Gloria J. Locklear

                                          Maxton
Mrs. Gloria Jean Locklear, 65, of 115 Ardell Rd., Maxton, was born May 1, 1945 and went to be with her heavenly father Tuesday, Septmeber 14, 2010 at her home surrounded her loving family.  She is preceded in death by her parents:  Mr. Ellard and Mrs. Edith Steen; a brother:  Mr. Joseph Steen; a sister:  Ms. Carolyn Steen and a great-granddaughter:  Miss Michaela Cummings.
     The funeral will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Sunday, September 19, 2010 at Bakers Chapel Baptist Church with the Revs:  Lindbergh Chavis and Donnie West and Bro. Nathan Scott officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
    
She was a former employee of the Public Schools of Robeson County for sixteen years.  She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend to all who knew her.  She was loved dearly and will be deeply missed by all.
    
Mrs. Locklear leaves to cherish her memories:  her husband of thirty eight years Mr. Cleveland Locklear; a daughter:  Mrs. Heather Kamalu and husband Mr. Tim of Rowland; six sons:  Mr. Chris Cummings and wife Mrs. Barbara of Tennessee, Mr. Anthony Cummings of Rowland, Mr. Michael Cummings of Pembroke, Mr. Larry Cummings of the home, Mr. Fredrick Locklear of Maxton and Mr. Randall Locklear and wife Mr. Lorrie Ann of Rowland; five sisters:  Mrs. Daphne Moser, Ms. Pennie Steen, Mrs. Tela Steen Brooks all of Rowland, Mrs. Sue Dimery of Pembroke and Mrs. Mary Vargas of Massachusetts; five brothers:  Mr. Ellard Steen Jr., Mr. Randle Steen, Mr. Hugh Steen both of Rowland, Mr. Vernon Steen of Pembroke and Mr. Larry Steen of Texas; twenty-one grandchildren and one great grandchild; one grand dog Gizmo and a host of relatives and friends.
    
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Saturday, September 18, 2010 at Locklear and Son Funeral Home.
