Mrs. Elizabeth Brewer Locklear, 94, of Pembroke died, Monday, March 17, 2008 at Sara’s Home Care of Maxton.
Mrs. Locklear was born in Robeson County on February 6, 1914 to the late Mr. Duncan Brewer and Mrs. Naomie L. Brewer. She was preceded in death by her husband: Mr. Josh Locklear; Mr. Duncan’s first wife: Mrs. Zellie Bullard Brewer; second wife: Mrs. Naomie L. Brewer and his third wife: Mrs. Della Ransom Brewer; five brothers: Mr. Steve Brewer, Mr. Ed Brewer, Mr. Daniel Webster Brewer, Mr. Walter Brewer, Mr. Charles Henry Brewer; six sisters: Ms. Qunnie Bell, Ms. Rosie Lee Oxendine, Ms. Delilah (Dock) Sanderson, Ms. Mary Lee Locklear, Ms. Alice Badenhof and Ms. Jessie Lee Maynor.
The funeral will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Thursday, March 20, 2008, at Bear Swamp Baptist Church with the Rev. Timmie Chavis officiating. Viewing will be one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will follow in the Lumbee Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Locklear is survived by her daughter: Ms. Heidi L. Barton of Pembroke; a granddaughter: Ms. Holly D. Barton of Lumberton; two great-granddaughters: Miss Valerie N. Barton and Miss Tammy L. Strickland both of Lumberton; two brothers: Mr. James Brewer and his wife: Mrs. Garlie Mae of Greensboro and Mr. Sanford Brewer of Pembroke and several nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 19, 2008, from 7-9 p.m. at Locklear & Son Funeral Home.
