Mr. Eli Anthony Locklear, 45 of 99 Rooster’s Drive, Pembroke, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Monday, May 26, 2008. Mr. Locklear was a devoted Christian, loving husband, father, son and brother.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Friday, May 30, 2008 at Mt. Olive Pentecostal Holiness Church. Officiating ministers will be the Rev. Lindbergh Chavis and the Rev. Thomas Oxendine. Burial will follow at Baker’s Chapel Church Cemetery.
Mr. Locklear was born October 26, 1962 to Mr. Billy Ray and Mrs. Lucy Dial Locklear in Baltimore, Maryland. He graduated from Pembroke Senior High School in 1981. In August 1995, Eli met the love of his life, Radella and they married four months later on December 30, 1995. Mr. Locklear was a kind, caring man who was known for telling others about the love of Christ. He often visited those who were sick and was generous with his time and talents, especially to those less fortunate. He was a devoted member of Deep Branch Missionary Baptist Church where he often taught Sunday School and actively participated in other ministries of the church. Mr. Locklear was formerly employed by Sunbridge Care and Rehabilitation of Pembroke where he was affectionately known and loved by the staff and residents. In 2007, he and his wife, Radella, founded Horizon Home Care of Laurinburg.
Mr. Locklear leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife, Radella; three daughters, Brae Taylor Locklear, Taylor Kerns and Bethany Grace; two sons, Isaac Redmond and Eli Luke; one grandson, Aidan; his parents, Billy Ray and Lucy Dial Locklear; three brothers, William Locklear, Heath Locklear and his wife Sue Ann, Barry Locklear and his wife, Tasha; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Redmond and Linda Kerns Locklear; his sister-in-law, Kimberly and her husband, Mike, his brother-in-law, Brandon and his wife, Ginger; five nieces, four nephews and many other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Thursday, May 29, 2008, at Mount Olive Pentecostal Holiness Church in Pembroke and at other times at the home. Services are entrusted to Locklear and Son Funeral Home of Pembroke.
