Mrs. Dorothy Fields Locklear, 87, of 271 Blossom Drive, was born June 2, 1922 and died Saturday, October 3, 2009, at Southeastern Regional Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her parents: Mr. John D. & Mrs. Annie Branch Fields; her husband: Rev. Luther Winford Locklear, Sr.; three sisters and one brother.
The graveside service will be Wednesday, October 7, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Mt. Airy Baptist Church Cemetery with the Revs: Michael Cummings & George Lloyd Locklear officiating.
Surviving are three sons: Mr. Larry Dean Locklear, Mr. Luther Winford Locklear, Jr. and Mr. Randy J. Locklear all of Pembroke; seventeen grandchildren: Monica Lynn Clark, Tina Lazette Hunt, Rodah Chella Locklear, Luther “Luke” W. Locklear, Randy J. “JR” Locklear, Jr., Willie Zachary Locklear, Truckee Locklear, Otoma Locklear, Mary Jean “MJ” Locklear, Tonya Locklear, Larry Locklear, Patrick Locklear, Michael Lambert, Joshua Locklear, Lyngail Locklear, Larry Dean Locklear, Jr., and Katie Lynn Locklear; fourteen great-grandchildren: Taylor Clark, Ridge Clark, Chemo Locklear, Holden Locklear, Noah Hunt, Miranda Hunt, Aaron Locklear, Avontie Locklear, Dearl Dean Locklear, Jr., Lindsey Locklear Tiffany Long, Christopher Locklear, Khloe’ Locklear and Jadan Lambert; four great-great-grandchildren; six nieces including one very special niece: Mrs. Kay “Kay Bird” Locklear and several nephews and an abundance of other family members, church family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, October 6, 2009, at Locklear & Son Funeral Home.
