Obituaries

Mr. Delton Locklear                                        Lumberton      Mr. Delton Locklear, 77, of 567 Eddie Sampson Rd., Lumberton, began this journey March 28, 1933 and departed this life on Sunday, May 23, 2010 into the eternal presence of his Heavenly Father.  He is preceded in death by his parents Mr. Stanly and Mrs. Carabell Locklear; two brothers:  Mr. Charlie F. Locklear and Mr. Stanley Locklear, Jr.; and a grandson Jamie Austin Taylor.      The funeral will be conducted 12:00 p.m. Thursday, May 27, 2010 at Mt. Airy Baptist Church with the Revs. Steve Strickland, Hilton Woodell, John L. Locklear, Jr. officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.      Mr. Locklear leaves behind to cherish his memories his wife of 20 years:  Mrs. Rachel O. Locklear of the home; three sons:  Mr. Jody Locklear of Pembroke, Mr. Jamie Oxendine and wife Tabetha of Missouri, and Mr. Jamie Locklear of the home; two nieces he looked upon as daughters:  Mrs. Belinda L. Porter and husband Dell, Mrs. Iola L. Woodell and husband Hilton all of Pembroke; two granddaughters:  Miss Brittany Oxendine of Red Springs and Miss Cheyanne Oxendine of Laurinburg; two brothers:  Mr. Daniel “Sonny Boy” Locklear and wife Alice, and Mr. Milton Ray Locklear, Sr. all of Pembroke; six sisters:  Mrs. Shirley Locklear, Mrs. Evelyn Locklear, Mrs. Leeila Oxendine and husband Jimmie, Mrs. Ann Sue Brewington and husband Lambert all of Pembroke, Mrs. Thelma Locklear and husband Lawrence of Lumberton and Mrs. Velma Edwards and husband Lloyd of Indian Trail and a host of relatives and friends.      The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Thursday, May 27, 2010 at Mt. Airy Baptist Church.
