Maxton
Mrs. Beulah Mae Locklear, a resident of Maxton, North Carolina died, Friday, May 30, 2008 in Southeastern Hospice House. She was born in Maxton, NC on September 1, 1923, the daughter of Mr. William & Mrs. Lillie Bryant. Beulah was one of fifteen children. Mrs. Beulah was preceded in death by her husband: Mr. James Clennie Locklear in 2002.
Mrs. Beulah married Mr. James Clennie Locklear in 1945 and relocated to Buchanan, Michigan where they resided until she retired from Simplicity Pattern Company after working for thirty years. After retirement, Beulah and James returned to Maxton to live their final years. She loved returning to her birthplace.
The funeral will be conducted 3:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 3, 2008, at New Prospect Methodist Church with the Revs: Willie Scott & William P. Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in the Lumbee Memorial Gardens.
Surviving are a son: Mr. Ray Locklear of Gainesville, Florida; a daughter: Mrs. Frances Altstaetter of Holmes Beach, Florida; a sister and a brother: Ms. Estelle Oxendine and Mr. Charles Bryant both of Maxton. Mrs. Beulah also has three beloved grandchildren: Shannon Locklear, Shana Altstaetter and JaeLynn Bowie and a host of relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Monday, June 2, 2008, at Locklear & Son Funeral Home.
