Mrs. Carlene Jones, 76, of 923 Henry Berry Road, Rowland was born June 24, 1931 and journeyed home to glory on Monday, May 26, 2008 to be with her Lord. She was preceded in death by her parents: Mr. Truss and Mrs. Minnie Locklear; a daughter: Ms. Peggy A. Jones; two grandchildren: Ms. Jessica L. Jones and Mr. Joseph E. Jones; four brothers: Mr. Russell Hoyt Locklear Mr. Eugene Locklear, Mr. Bradley Locklear and Mr. Broughton Locklear.
The funeral will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 30, 2008, at Locklear & Son Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs: Larry Locklear, Bill James Locklear & Dr. Dalton Brooks officiating. Entombment will follow in the Jones Family Cemetery.
Mrs. Jones dedicated her life as a testimony of the Love and Mercy of the Lord. She lived a honest and simple life and always cared for all her family. She was a devoted wife and mother.
Mrs. Jones is survived by her husband: Mr. Stanford Jones of the home; two sons: Mr. Russell Hoyt Jones of Jacksonville, Fl., Mr. Stanford Jones Jr. of Rowland; a step-son: Rev. Larry Locklear of Red Springs; four daughters: Mrs. Vickie Scott of Charlotte, Mrs. Darlene Locklear of Pembroke, Mrs. Gayle Hensley of Rowland, and Mrs. Sherry Brantley of Maiden, NC; two brothers: Mr. Sherman Locklear of Charlotte and Mr. Reasley Locklear of Pembroke; two sisters: Mrs. Thelma Disharoon of Stockton, MD and Mrs. Annette Bell of Pembroke; twenty grandchildren and twenty-four great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends Thursday, May 29, 2008, from 7-9 p.m. at Locklear & Son Funeral Home.
