Ms. Vera Mae “Darlene” Hammonds, 59, of 777 Strickland Heights, was born April 10, 1949 and died Sunday, March 22, 2009 at her home. She was the daughter of the late Mr. Coyounger & Mrs. Rebecca Dial Locklear.
The funeral will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 29, 2009, at Locklear & Son Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Listern Dial officiating. Burial will follow in the Lumbee Memorial Gardens.
Surviving are two sons: Mr. James Wesley Hammonds, Jr. of Reidsville and Mr. James Allen Hammonds of Greensboro; two daughters: Ms. Burnanette Hammonds Brown of Greensboro and Ms. Brunhilda Hammonds Lizardi of Stokesdale; three brothers: Mr. Ernest Dial, Mr. Monque Locklear both of Pembroke and Mr. Sonny Locklear of Red Springs; a sister: Ms. Arlene Chavis of Pembroke; nine grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends Sunday, March 29, 2009, from 1-2 p.m. at Locklear & Son Funeral Home.
