Red Springs
Mr. Peter Dial, Jr., 90, of 425 Dial Road, Red Springs, was born April 30, 1918 to the late Mr. Peter Dial and Mrs. Sara Bullard Dial and departed this life Saturday, June 28, 2008 at this home. He is preceded in death by four brothers, Mr. Franklin Dial, Mr. Sidney Dial, Mr. Sol Dial, and Reverend James D. Dial; two sisters, Mrs. Emma Locklear and Mrs. Rebecca Dial Locklear.
The funeral will be conducted Monday, June 30, 2008, at 11:00 A.M. at Dundarrach Baptist Church with the Revs: Dr. Dalton Brooks and Shelley Dial officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Dial leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of fifty-five years, Mrs. Dolores Barton Dial of the home; one son Mr. Peter Anthony Dial, III of Rolesville, NC; four daughters Dr. Heather Kimberly Dial of the home, Mrs. Amy Rice of Charlotte, NC, Ms. Cynthia Dial of Salisbury, NC and Ms. Lana Dial of Raleigh, NC; two living brothers Mr. Joel Dial of Red Springs, NC, and Mr. Benford (Bethel) Dial of Pembroke, NC; one living sister Mrs. Darkis Riley of Lumberton, NC; three wonderful grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.
Mr. Dial served three years in the Army (Armored Infantry 107 Heavy Auxiliary). He served honorably and bravely in World War II. Mr. Dial is a Graduate of Prospect School and is one of the first graduates of Pembroke State University. Mr. Dial was an educator for 30 years at various schools including Hawkeye, Hollister, and Hallsboro Middle School.
The family will receive friends Sunday, June 29, 2008, from 7-9 p.m. at Locklear & Son Funeral Home.
