Mr. Bethel “Benford” Dial, 88, of 1949 Whistling Rufus Road, was born January 13, 1923 and died Thursday, December 29, 2011, at his home. He was preceded in death by his parents: Mr. Peter & Mrs. Sara Bullard Dial; five brothers: Mr. Franklin Dial, Mr. Sidney Dial, Mr. Sol Dial, Mr. Peter Dial, Jr. and Rev. James “Jimmy” Dial and two sisters: Mrs. Emma Dial Locklear and Mrs. Rebecca Dial Locklear.
The funeral will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 31, 2011, at Bear Swamp Baptist Church with the Revs: Dr. Mike Cummings and Dr. Timmie Chavis officiating. Burial will follow in the Bear Swamp Church Cemetery.
Surviving are his wife: Mrs. Isabelle Maynor Dial of the home; five sons: Mr. Jerry Dial and wife: Mrs. Pauline, Mr. Nelson Dial and wife: Mrs. Suzette, Mr. John Phillip Dial and wife: Mrs. Joyce, Mr. Benford Dial, Jr. and wife: Debbie and Mr. Cornelius Dial; four daughters: Mrs. Miriam Locklear and husband: Mr. Paul, Mrs. Carolyn Smith and husband: Mr. Bobby, Mrs. Sylvia Chavis and husband: Mr. Vinson and Mrs. Lottie Ruth Chavis and husband: Mr. Nelson; twenty-four grandchildren and twenty-six great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Friday, December 30, 2011, at Locklear & Son Funeral Home. |
