Mr. Bobby E. Cummings, 76, of 84 McDaniel Rd, was born April 1, 1931 and departed this life Friday, January 18, 2008 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. He is preceded in death by two wives: Mrs. Myrtle Cummings and Mrs. Anna Cummings; his parents: Mr. Jules and Mrs. Lula Cummings; his foster parents: Mr. Will and Mrs. Edna Brayboy; six brothers: Mr. William Cummings, Mr. Julius Cummings, Mr. Burvil Cummings, Mr. Wilbert Brayboy, Mr. Wilbur Brayboy, and Mr. Howard Brayboy; five sisters: Mrs. Alain Williamson, Mrs. Rosie Chavis, Mrs. Mary M. Dimery, Mrs. Bessie Sampson, and Mrs. Dorothy Gallagher; one half-brother: Mr. John Cummings; two half sisters: Ms. Betty Lou Locklear and Ms. Mary Sue Griffin.
The funeral will be conducted 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 22, 2008 at Union Chapel Community Church. Burial will follow in the Oxendine Cemetery.
Mr. Cummings is survived by a sister: Mrs. Dovie Phillips of Morton IL; a son: Mr. Eugene Cummings of Moseley, VA; two step-sons: Mr. Gregory Sanchez of Lumberton and Mr. Felix Sanchez Jr.; a daughter: Mrs. Rose Strickland of Lumberton; five half-brothers: Mr. Wade Cummings and Mr. Hardy Cummings both of Fairmont, Mr. Charlie Cummings of Parkton, Mr. Carl Cummings of Raynham, and Mr. James Cummings of Hawii; one half-sister: Ms. Lorraine Brooks of Fairmont; five grandchildren: Ms. Toni Strickland of Lumberton, Mrs. Lisa McMillian of Red Springs, Mrs. Crystal Smith of Dillon, SC, Mr. Adam Mitterer and Ms. Ashley Mitterer of Moseley, VA; four great – grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends Monday, January 21, 2008 at Locklear & Son Funeral Home 7-9 p.m.
