Mr. Hiwallace Chavis, 75, of 115 Wallace Road, was born July 30, 1933 and died, Wednesday, February 18, 2009, at Southeastern Regional Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his parents: Mr. Lee Ander & Mrs. Mary Eliza Chavis; three brothers: Mr. Alfred Chavis, Mr. Roosevelt Chavis and Mr. Lacy Chavis; two sisters: Mrs. Sadie R. Locklear and Mrs. Sylvania C. Locklear.
The funeral will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Sunday, February 22, 2009, at Tabernacle Baptist Church with the Revs: Dufrene Cummings and Michael Cummings officiating. Burial will follow in the Bullard Family Cemetery.
Surviving are his daughter: Mrs. Glenda Hunt and her husband: Mr. Kelvin of Lumberton; a son: Mr. Preston Chavis and his wife: Mrs. Audrey of Maxton; three granddaughters: Miss Andrea Chavis, Miss Acacia Chavis and Miss Adrienne Chavis; a grandson: Master Ashton Preston Chavis; three brothers: Mr. Willie Chavis, Mr. James W. Chavis and Mr. Herdman Chavis of Lumberton; a sister: Mrs. Annie R. Maynor of Lumberton; the mother of his children: Ms. Clarsie Chavis; a long time very special friend: Ms. Helen Locklear; several nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends Saturday, February 21, 2009, from 7-9 p.m. at Locklear & Son Funeral Home.
