Mrs. Etta Mae “Doobie” Chavis, 82, of 463 Preston Road, was born May 14, 1926 and died Saturday, February 14, 2009 at her home. She was preceded in death by two sons: Mr. Donald K. Chavis and Mr. Dexter Chavis.
The funeral will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 18, 2009, at White Hill Freewill Baptist Church with the Revs: Fred Locklear, Jennings Bullard and Bro. Stanford Locklear officiating. Burial will follow in the White Hill Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Chavis is survived by her husband of 64 years: Mr. Willie A. Chavis of the home; two sons: Mr. Rabon Chavis and his wife: Mrs. Francis of Maxton and Mr. Clyde Lowery and his wife: Mrs. Jean of Fayetteville; four daughters: Ms. Judy C. Locklear, Ms. Jackie C. Locklear, Mrs. Josie Beasley and her husband: Mr. Donnie all of Maxton and Mrs. Marie Jarrett and her husband: Mr. Tom of Fayetteville; twenty-nine grandchildren; seventy great-grandchildren; fifteen great-great-grandchildren and special nieces: Ms. Billie Mae, Ms. Florella and Ms. Carla Dial all of Maxton and a host of relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, February 17, 2009, from 7-9 p.m. at Locklear & Son Funeral Home.
