Ms. Gladys O. Bullard, 85, the daughter of the late Mr. Bryant D. and Mrs. Mary Nancy Oxendine, was born on December 16, 1922 and departed this life on Sunday, April 6, 2008 at Southeastern Hospice House, Lumberton, N.C. Ms. Bullard was preceded in death by her loving husband: Mr. Marvin Bullard, Sr.; a daughter: Mrs. Mary L. Oxendine; a daughter-in-law: Mrs. Sylvia Bullard; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 3 p.m. Wednesday April 9, 2008 at Harper’s Ferry Baptist Church with the Revs: Horace Oxendine, Donald Bullard, and Dr. Kenneth W. Locklear officiating. Viewing will be one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will follow in the Preston Cemetery.
She is survived by three sons: Mr. Ernest Bullard, Mr. James E. Bullard and wife Carolyn of Rowland, and Mr. Marvin Bullard, Jr. and wife Vivian of Red Springs; four daughters: Mrs. Mary B. Hunt and husband Larry, Mrs. Retha Deese and husband Bobby of Rowland, Mrs. Annie M. Harris and husband Bentley of Maxton, and Ms. Lorrie Jones of Parkton; one sister: Mrs. Aggie Noles of Charlotte, NC; two brothers: Mr. Bryant Oxendine of Michigan and Mr. John Oxendine of Maxton; twenty-two grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren; a son-in-law: Mr. Millard Oxendine; a special friend: Ms. Sarah Oxendine and a host of relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends Tuesday April 8, 2008 from 7-9 p.m. at Locklear & Son Funeral Home.
