Mrs. Pauline Sampson Brooks of 2539 St. Anna Road, Pembroke, North Carolina finished this life’s journey on Tuesday, April 14, 2009. She was at home surrounded by a host of loved ones whose lives she had impacted through her journey of 68 years. Mrs. Brooks was born on August 25, 1940 to George Lacy and Maudie Sampson.
The journey of Pauline Brooks’ life was a tribute to her Lord Jesus Christ and a blessing to all who joined her as she traveled this way. Her gifts of kindness were visible in her faith, her family and her friends. She will be missed by many and in her faith, she joins and will be joined by many.
The funeral will be held Friday, April 17, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. at Pembroke Gospel Chapel, 406 North Jones Street, Pembroke, North Carolina with Bros: Purcell Blue, Paul G. Brooks, Jr. and Dr. Martin L. Brooks officiating. Burial will follow at Bear Swamp Baptist Church in Pembroke.
Mrs. Brooks is survived by her husband of 46 years, Paul G. Brooks. To this union were born three daughters and one son all of whom survive their loving mother. The oldest daughter, Paula B. Jones resides in Pembroke, North Carolina with her husband, Dwayne Jones and two sons – Dwayne Paul and Patrick Blaine. The second oldest daughter, Penny M. Brooks is of the home. The youngest daughter, Pamela B. Sweeney also resides in Pembroke with her husband, John Sweeney and their two children – John Phillip and Paige Elizabeth. Mrs. Brooks’ son, Paul G. Brooks, Jr. and his wife, Beverly also live in Pembroke with their five sons – Joshua Paul, Luke Pierson, Nathan Peter, Benjamin Piper and Josiah Packer. Mrs. Brooks is survived by a sister, Vivian Bell and two brothers – George Lacy and Bobby Sampson and a host of relatives and friends.
The family will receive visitation at Locklear & Son Funeral Home in Pembroke from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 16, 2009. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made on behalf of Pauline S. Brooks, c/o Pembroke Gospel Chapel, PO Box 606, Pembroke, NC 28372.
