Mrs. Virginia Dale Oxendine Blackwood, born October 24, 1951, wife of Command Sergeant Major Roger Paul Blackwood, mother of Legina Oxendine Allen and grandmother of Travis O’Ryan Allen departed this life on Thursday morning the 21st day of June 2007 in Wiesbaden, Germany with her husband and military family by her side.
Mrs. Blackwood is preceded in death by her parents: Britton & Beulah Locklear Oxendine and by five of her brothers: James Alvin, James Early, Britton Jr., Jimmy Ray and Nelson Oxendine.
The funeral will be conducted 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 26, 2007, at Mt. Airy Baptist Church with the Revs: Michael Cummings and Kelly Sanderson officiating. Burial will follow in the Oxendine Cemetery.
Other surviving family members include: William & Barbara Oxendine, Mary Sally Oxendine, David Earl & Isle Oxendine, Jerry Oxendine and Paul & Rowena Godaire all of Pembroke; Gene Autry & Katherine Oxendine of Matthews and several nieces and nephews. Roger’s mother: Laura Mae Blackwood and sister: Bernice Blackwood of Odell, NE and a host of relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends Monday, June 25, 2007, from 7-9 p.m. at Locklear & Son Funeral Home.
